Free Recipe - Easy Homemade Houmous
Make your own houmous at home. It’s such a versatile snack, that can help balance blood sugar, as well as providing protein, fibre, calcium, and monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.
I snack on Houmous all the time, it helped me get over my chocolate and crisp habit. It’s lovely with crackers, vegetables sticks or as a side dish.
Ingredients
100g Dried Chickpeas
A pinch of Bicarb
Half a teaspoon of salt
40g of Tahini
1 Garlic Clove
Juice of 1 Lemon
Instructions
Soak the chickpeas overnight.
Put the chickpeas in a pan of water, add the bicarb. Boil for 30 minutes until soft.
Shell the chickpeas. This is optional, you can leave them on if you don’t mind your hummus more coarse.
Blitz the chickpeas, garlic, tahini, lemon juice and salt in a blender. Add a little bit of water if the hummus is too thick.
Leave plain or add spices to make it more interesting such as cumin, paprika, chilli powder, parsley or lemon zest.
Eat! Or you can freeze it to save it for another time.
Enjoy!
